GRANDE SONNERIE CARILLON
Unique Piece

It was produced in 2016 as one of five limited edition models.
The grand sonnerie mechanism is the most complex and difficult to produce in the history of mechanical watches.

Audemars Piguet's previous Grand Sonnerie Carillon had a diameter of 41 mm.This modelThis is a special limited edition model with a small diameter of 39mm.

This is an unprecedented and extraordinary special specification for a watch equipped with a sonor mechanism.
Normally, an automatic striking mechanism, with its three-hammer mechanism, requires sufficient space for chiming, so the exterior case is typically made large, with a diameter of 40-44mm, regardless of the actual dimensions of the movement. However, the fact that this model's movement is 29.9mm in diameter, 5.8mm thick, and is made up of 489 parts, yet is roughly the same size as a single minute repeater, is one of the company's strengths in the field of striking mechanisms and is the result of its outstanding, virtuoso craftsmanship.

The design technology used to layout the individual parts, particularly while keeping the thickness down, is miraculous and exceptional.
Since its founding, the company has been a group of elite watchmakers specializing in the design and production of ultra-complex mechanisms, particularly Grand Complications, and is a leading manufacturer among the renowned watch brands of the Vallée de Joux, the heart of Swiss watchmaking.

The history of clockmaking and the art of chiming go hand in hand.
The most representative example of this type of clock is the bell of Westminster Abbey, which chimes every hour on the hour and every quarter hour (quarter chimes) and tells the time as it is recognised around the world. Clocks have evolved from being attached to buildings to wall clocks and table clocks, and have become increasingly smaller with the rapid advancement of technology. However, when it comes to portable pocket watches, due to their high level of technical difficulty, they have been elevated from being used as everyday watches by ordinary citizens to being a recreational hobby reserved for a limited number of upper classes, including royalty and aristocrats.

Audemars Piguet: The world's first automatic tourbillon watch

Audemars Piguet, a specialist in ultra-complex mechanisms, was founded in 1875 and produced 28 movements equipped with the Grande Sonnerie mechanism between 1882 and 1892, shortly after the company was founded.
The first wristwatch to feature the Grand Sonnerie mechanism was the Ref. 25750PT, released in 1994.
Nearly a quarter of a century has passed since then, and we have arrived at this model, Ref. 26344PT.
The company's true ambition as a watchmaker is perhaps embodied in mechanisms like this model.
The case design follows the Jules Audemars bezel polished finish and the case sides with a hairline finish.
The dial is available in five colors, and this model has a slate gray dial made of 18K gold with hand engraving.
