Its most distinctive features are its embossed pattern, inspired by the bark of the powerful and majestic birch forests that grow in the vicinity of Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in Iwate Prefecture, where Grand Seiko's mechanical models are manufactured, and its silvery white dial, which evokes snow.The cal. 9SA5 movement features a new ``dual impulse escapement'' mechanism that significantly improves the transmission efficiency of the mainspring, and twin barrels that allow for the installation of a balance wheel with a large moment of inertia, resulting in an ultra-high vibration rate of 36,000 vph and a maximum power reserve of approximately 80 hours. The movement is finished with a delicate striped "Shizukuishi River" pattern, inspired by the flow of the local Shizukuishi River. In addition, the horizontal gear train structure makes the watch thinner and lowers the center of gravity of the movement, improving stability when worn, achieving both high precision and practicality.
